The US Navy heavy frigate, Constitution, is the oldest still seaworthy warship in the world. The USS Constitution is also known by the nickname Old Ironsides, which is attributed to the fact that enemy projectiles are said to have bounced off the ship’s strong sides. Built in 1797, the frigate celebrated its 200th anniversary in 1997, setting sail for the first time in over 100 years. The motive of the coin shows an image of the USS Constitution on the high seas and a compass in the background. The design is framed by the inscriptions “NAUTICAL OUNCE,” “USS Constitution,” “2022” and “3 oz FINE SILVER 999.” The reverse shows the coat of arms of Rwanda and the denomination. This ultra high relief, antiqued silver coin is delivered in a capsule with a certificate of authority.
