According to the works of Edmund Spencer, this tale revolves around the romantic saga between Una, a beautiful princess, and a Knight. Una travels to the celebration entitled “The Feast of 12 Days” that the Faery Queene also attends. She asks for her help to find a knight suitable for the task of rescuing her parents from the clutches of a ferocious dragon. A peasant boy responds and Una will allow it if the suit of armor she has brought fits him. Of course, he perfectly fits the suit of armor she has brought that also has a prominent red cross painted on it. With her parents captured by a ferocious dragon, she implores Redcrosse to rescue them. At this point, he sets out on his adventure with the intent of slaying the dragon.
