The latest iteration in the “Solar System” Series is this silver coin dedicated to the seventh planet from the Sun – Uranus. Uranus is the third-largest planet in our solar system after Jupiter and Saturn and four times the size of the Earth. Its orbital period around the sun is 84 years. The blue gas giant first became known after it was discovered by William Herschel on March 13, 1781. It consists mainly of hydrogen, helium and methane and has, according to current knowledge, a total of 27 moons – the four best known of its moons are called Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberon.
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is the Cameroonian coat of arms. The coin’s date, “2021,” is noted just above. Rim inscriptions offer the name of the issuing country, “REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN,” and face value, “500 FRANCS CFA.”
Reverse: A vibrantly colored Uranus is featured at the center of the reverse. Ruthenium plating around it makes the exterior look like outer space. In outer space, gilded gold celestial bodies are found as well as the rim being gilded gold.
